The Serious Stuff
A marketing consultant and journalist, I have been writing professionally for more than 20 years.
Combining specialist skills in marketing strategy, content writing, brand management, digital marketing, PPC, SEO and event management, I get a genuine kick out of helping clients grow their business.
I’m known for my attention to detail and clients appreciate that I’m a little zealous when it comes to lining up all the ducks! That means you get someone who dots all the i’s and crosses all the t’s.
My experience spans national brands, not-for-profits, local government, events and the arts as well as small and medium sized businesses.
I’m the SEO lead lead at Melbourne performance marketing agency Foresight Digital. For the past five years, I have also been part of the international award-wining marketing team at Macneil & Co. As a consultant, my clients range from service businesses to start-ups, major hospitals, national companies and charities.
Previously, I was the marketing strategist at Rockcote, and communications manager for the Byron Writers Festival.

MY STORY
I have always been curious. As a child, my favourite question was, “What was there when nothing was there?” Deep huh? I was also a little nosy, wanting to know how things worked and what people were doing. Also, why?…always why.
As a teenager, the school newspaper Lake High Link, gave this curiosity, accompanied by a passion for writing, an outlet. I thrived on it, spending every lunchtime researching and writing stories. Becoming the editor was my proudest school achievement, eclipsed only by winning the best school newspaper in NSW that year.
But I digress. When it came time for work experience, I immersed myself in the ABC Radio newsroom in Wollongong and knew that I would make writing my career. After working as a cadet and journalist, I flew the coop, taking off for a life of adventure at sea (that’s another story). But everywhere I worked, I have written, nurturing that curiosity and turning it into a living, complemented by a suite of marketing skills that gave my writing a platform.
As the world was fast moving to digital, I became enthralled with SEO and Google Ads. I saw it as a way to bring my writing skills into an online world in a way that would be useful. For the first time, I could confidently measure the impact of my writing and how it helped business owners. It’s also a perfect left brain / right brain activity for someone who has always been a little (ok, a lot) geeky.
And so I landed in copywriting and SEO, caught hook, line and sinker by the lure of digital and the opportunity to use my curiosity in a new way. I’m fascinated by the technical aspects of organic and paid search and the role of copy in engaging digital audiences. I also happen to be a massive Sherlock Holmes fan and grew up absorbed by Nancy Drew novels, so positioning myself as SEO detective, Search Sleuth felt right.
I am a passionate supporter of closing the literacy gap in Australia and regularly support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, which fosters a love of reading in children from remote communities.
Since gynaecological cancer affected my family in 2021, I have supported the Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Research at the University of Queensland. QCGC conducts life-changing research into causes, prevention and better treatment options.
